There’s something intimate about a necklace. Unlike other jewellery, it rests near the heart a quiet presence, deeply personal. Our newest Lightning Ridge opal pieces are designed with that feeling in mind.

At Iona Opal Australia, we’ve worked with many stones, but the black opals from Lightning Ridge always feel the most alive. Some shimmer with hints of green and blue. Others pulse with flashes of red, gold, and violet. Each one is hand selected, then carefully shaped, polished, and set in silver, rose gold, or gold plated finishes.

We don’t mass produce these. Every necklace goes through a slow, thoughtful process, no rushing, no shortcuts. It’s jewellery made to last, made to mean something.

What Makes Lightning Ridge Opals So Special

These opals form in dark rock, which gives them their famous depth and fire. That contrast,  light against shadow is what makes their colours sing. Each one feels wild, expressive, and unlike anything else.
