Please Note: This is a treated Matrix Opal. Matrix opal features opal interspersed within its host rock. To bring out its captivating colours, the opal undergoes a sugar treatment β soaked in a sugar solution, then heated in acid to darken the matrix and enhance the opal's natural brilliance. Sugar treating is only done on Matrix opal; our Coober Pedy, Lightning Ridge and Queensland Boulder opals are treatment free.
